CryptoLocker is known as "ransomware", it is a malicious program / virus that was released around the beginning of September 2013 targeting all versions of windows operating systems. This virus will store itself within your computer documents, and begin the process of encrypting all of your files using a mixture of RSA & AES encryption protocols. When the virus has finished encrypting all of your important data, it will display a popup/graphical interface (See Below) that prompts you for payment, in exchange for releasing the encrypted files that it now holds "hostage". If payment is not made within the displayed period of time (usually 72hrs) then the decryption key for the files will be deleted permanently, and the files will be left in an unusable encrypted state forever.
