Mobile Visitors & Responsive Website Design

Between 30-50% of website traffic can now be attributed to visitors using mobile phones and tablets - reported by sources such as Google Analytics. This trend has been growing since the widespread consumption of mobile technology began, and continues to rise so much so that this year we will probably see more traffic to the web from smartphones & tablets than from desktop PC's.

In light of this growing trend of mobile & tablet users, web technologies have also been growing - becoming streamlined, cleaner, faster, and more versatile - to match mobile and PC platform's new browsing capabilities. Many websites are becoming more minimalistic, providing required information immediately and in formats that can be digested regardless of the devices used to view them.

Responsive layouts are now becoming the norm in web design. A responsive layout will dynamically re-arrange, show, or hide elements of your web page based on the size of the screen that the website is being viewed on. One example of a recent responsive website that LCIT Dynamics has made is our own website (the one you are reading this blog on) you can see the effect of the responsive layout by adjusting the size of your web browser, or visiting this link.

There is still a place for standard static mobile websites, for example; websites that require different information (notices, or quick information for mobile users), specific functionality (booking forms, etc), and many other requirements. But for the majority of websites out there, it is fair to say that a responsive web design would offer the best & most flexible results.

If you do not already have a mobile website, want to convert your website to a responsive/static layout, or are looking for a website redesign to match a new image for your company, LCIT Dynamics can assist you.
